These days I focus on companies with 1 to 10 employees, because that's where an outside technical perspective tends to make the biggest difference, and where it's hardest to find someone who takes the engagement seriously at that size.

I run a small business too
I'm not a large firm sending you a junior consultant while the partner who pitched you disappears. I'm the person doing the work, and I'm also a business owner — which means I think about cash flow, priorities, and "is this actually worth it" the same way you do, not just about the technically interesting version of the problem. My job is to translate technology into plain English, tell you what actually matters, and leave you more capable than I found you — not more dependent on me.
